About

Hello there, music fan! Welcome to OverUC.com, an Urbana-Champaign music blog.

For a town with so many bands and shows, there’s a void to be filled when it comes to daily coverage. With MP3s from local bands, exclusive news and concert reviews with text, photos and video, we’re your porthole to what’s going on inside the UC music scene.

Whether you’re a local band looking for exposure, a music fan who likes reading reviews or a 9-to-5 worker who is looking for something fun to do tonight, OverUC.com is here to help.

UPDATE: After 13 months of show reviews and fantastic support from the community, In The Aeroplane, Over UC has unfortunately ceased updating content, due to its editor moving from the lovely Illinoisian sister cities to the confines of New York City. We thank you for all of your continued support, and to find out about current happenings in U-C, please visit SmilePolitely.com. To contact Carlye Wisel, editor of OverUC.com, shoot an e-mail to OverUC@gmail.com.

  1. Wow. I feel like lilly-white Joe Public with blinders over my eyes. How ‘come the in-crowd gets all the fun? I had to buy coffee and find the swanky aero-card to become enlightened. Site looks great – best of luck!

  2. Hey, long time fan and reader of Over C-U. I just started a blog featuring Chicago/C-U music, too. I’d love for you to check it out. Keep this site going, the content is awesome!

  3. Could you look into a band from 1980 to 1983 called The Martyrs? They were all in high school and had a huge following. They also played lots of college functions too. They produced an album themselves and sold around 2,000 copies. There are 2 reunion shows on Jan 21/22 at the highdive. Shows start at 7:00 P.M. A cool band from that same time period named The Vertebrats will be doing a stripped down opening performance. Most certainly newsworthy, and both bands have a tremendous amount of credibility.
