Flight Itinerary: Nov. 12 — Nov. 16

[Yep, it's back. You know how the McRib goes away silently and then all of a sudden reappears again and everyone goes, "forget the Chicken McNuggets, throw me one of those McRibbies, I missed those!" This is like that. Not because we're covered in sweet-&-sour sauce, but because I'm not really sure why it went away in the first place. Enough chatter, more concerts!]

Wednesday, November 12th:

Where I’ll Be: At Canopy Club, seeing Sunset Stallion with Jared Bartman, Post Historic and Yossarian (9pm, $5).

You Should See: The same show. C’mon! It’ll be fun.

Thursday, November 13th:

Where I’ll Be: At Umphrey’s McGee (Canopy Club, $25 in advance)

You Should See: Umphrey’s. I wouldn’t usually suggest you follow my personal schedule two nights in a row, but according to the venue’s website, this show is (shockingly) not sold out yet, and the first one I can remember in years that isn’t. You still have a chance to snatch up a ticket before it’s too late, and if you’re going to pass on a show for the price or because you’ve seen them a bunch, don’t forget — with a new album on the horizon, this gig is almost guaranteed to showcase some of their new tunes. The live listening party is predictably well worth the $25, even for the mildest of fans. But, if you’re totally not into them, check out DJ Belly and DJ Mertz at Cowboy Monkey. Should also be a good show, just with less lighting trusses.

Friday, November 14th:

Where I’ll Be: Seeing John Oliver doing stand-up at the Illini Union, then immediately forcing him to be my husband.

You Should See: The Illini 4000 Benefit at Canopy with World’s First Flying Machine, Roses & Sake, Organic Flow & No Comment. Good cause, good bands, good early show to see before you drink till you can’t remember you saw it.

Saturday, November 15th:

Where I’ll Be: At a dance performance at Krannert. (Hopefully the tunes are good.)

You Should See: New Ruins, Common Loon, Carl Hauck and My Dear Alan Andrews at Red Herring at 8pm for three buckaroos. (The Courtyard Cafe looks promising too, but more information coming on that soon.)

Sunday, November 16th:

Sleep. We deserve it, don’t we?

UPDATE: We also deserve entertainment. (And bloggers that aren’t so spacey…) Flaming Lips’ Christmas On Mars is playing Sunday at Canopy. Check back to OverUC for more details!
