Pygmalion Music Festival: Two More!

Soon to be added to the already fantastic roster are….

Catfish Haven!

and…

The Hood Internet!

If you’re from Illinois, you’ve probably heard Catfish’s super-catchy “Crazy For Leaving” and are looking forward to hearing it for the second year in a row. But, if you haven’t heard of The Hood Internet, consider yourself informed. The premise of their mash-ups (two staggeringly different musicians) is hilarious but the product is incredible, so explore some of their various pairings (Dizzee Rascal and Cut Copy!) at their site.

Stop, Look and Listen:

The Hood Internet’s (fantastic wonderful phenomenal) Website

A Harmonious Hybrid.

Sometimes, when two things get together, it’s heavenly. Like Gmail and AIM, or popcorn and douse-your-own butter sauce, or Jarling’s and my stomach. And now, my teeny, tiny brain will quite possibly explode from the world’s greatest combination, right in our campustown backyard:

Urban Outfitters and Pygmalion Music Festival!!!

(Hopefully, everyone will accessorize this well at the shows.)

I may or may not have lost a couple of neurons in the process and used a few brown bags to calm my breathing down, but it’s true. Not only is the fantastic vintage-y fashion mecca opening one block away from my apartment (can you hear my bank account being cleared out as quickly as I can try on dresses?), but they’re pairing it with some of the best bands that call UC home. So, put on your knee-high moccasins, slap those graphic T’s on your body, and get ready to shop listen til’ you drop:

Sunday, August 24: Elsinore

Friday, August 29: Headlights

Friday, September 5: Tall Tale

Friday, September 12: World’s First Flying Machine

And, If you think you’ll forget these dates, don’t fret — the calendar should be up and running in about a week!

Home Sweet Campus Town.

Hello, everybody! I’m back from the East Coast, and the site will soon be up-and-running.

Until now, everything has been considered a “soft launch.” I’ve tested the waters and tried a few different things, but from here on out, overUC will be gearing up for a full-fledged invasion of music coverage of the two cities we call home.

That being said, I’m also looking to expand the staff, particularly for Pygmalion Music Festival, for which there will be a mind-boggling amount of coverage. If you are interested in helping with show photography (see a show for free!), videography for in-person interviews (get face-to-face with a band you love!) or editing/writing for the site (this will come soon, but the other two will start first), please drop me a line at overUC@gmail.com. With your help, we can finally give UC the music coverage it deserves.
