After blogging my way through lectures, having a record low number of classes ditched (only two!) and writing a 13-page paper about the Holocaust’s effect on the Arab-Israeli conflict (ugh), the semester has finally come to a close. While I’d love to plop down at Jarling’s’ picnic tables and suck down custard for two and a half months to combat the summer heat, I’ll instead be spending this summer in New York City…where I will be eating my weight in soft pretzels. (I clearly like food just as much as I like music.)
It’s going to be difficult to maintain a website about Urbana-Champaign when I’m miles away from it, especially considering that I’m unsure of how demanding my internships will be. I’ll be working on the site full-time when I return in mid-August, and will be doing a bit of a “relaunch” around then. But, here’s a look, in outline form, towards the future:
Going on hold until I return:
- Calendar/Flight Itinerary
- Concert previews/daily updates. Basically, content will be updated less often.
- Concert reviews ( I might post a bit about shows I see in NY, but I haven’t decided yet.)
Summer content that will remain:
- Back cataloguing. I’ve reviewed a ton of UC shows in the past, and will be re-posting them here over the summer to bring the review catalogue up to speed.
- Flickr page. Just like with the catalogue of concert reviews, I’ll be making a comprehensive, extremely organized Flickr page with photos of every show I’ve been to around UC, and will update the site when that page gets updated.
-Tunes/News. I have tunes to post later today, but anything I get over the summer will be posted.
- Pygmalion Music Festival news. Still your main source for PMF news! Expect an AWESOME announcement coming very, very soon!
What to expect when I return (the whole “relaunch” thing):
- A new banner! It’s in the works as we speak, so it’ll probably be up soon. It should be brilliant.
- In-depth Pygmalion Music Festival coverage. Just wait. Seriously.
- Detailed event calendar.
- More previews of local shows
- More previews of touring bands, with interviews and other features!
- Daily content like you haven’t seen before. If something’s going on, it’ll be on here…hopefully.
Keep checking back, even though I’m gettin’ out of town. Tracks from Carl Hauck’s WEFT session will be posted soon, in addition to that Santa video I’ve needed to upload. And, as always, get your big butt out there and see some local music.
Adios (only for a bit),
